Adam McCurdie and his co-founder have been best friends for over a decade, sharing a passion for health, environment, education and indigenous affairs. Together, they recognise the exciting potential for technological disruption to play a role in philanthropy.
After volunteering two years of their time to get Humanitix off the ground, there is now a broad team working with Humanitix, with considerable support from some of Australia’s largest philanthropists and foundations including Google and Atlassian.
The Humanitix Story – transforming an idea into a business
Humanitix is the first not-for-profit ticketing platform which directs 100% of profits from booking fees to fund education for disadvantaged children. The platform has taken off across Australia and New Zealand with thousands of events (including SparkMEL) making the switch to the platform.
Humanitix have won numerous awards, including Third Sector 2018 Social Entrepreneur of the Year, Westpac top 20 business of tomorrow, and the 2018 NSW Premier’s Medal for Business Excellence. They recently won the Google Impact Challenge resulting in $1 million in funding from Google.org.
Co-Founder and Director of Humanitix, Adam McCurdie, will be the final speaker for Spark the Change Melbourne 2019. He will provide insights and learnings from the amazing Humanitix journey, including:
- The Humanitix Story- taking an idea and turning it into reality
- Separating the things that matter from the things that don’t; and
- Common mistakes and practical lessons
Adam’s talk will be followed by a Q & A session to round off the session.
